Canyoning in the Lost Canyon – Desafio

Go canyoning in the Lost Canyon and dive into the best adventure of your Costa Rica trip! If you’re in La Fortuna, you can’t possibly leave without rappelling down waterfalls. Going deep into the jungle and throwing yourself (safely) off cliffs should be on everyone’s bucket list, after all. This just happens to be one of the best tours in the area for that.

Desafio Adventures includes transportation from/to most accommodations in the Arenal Volcano area. Your driver will pick you up to go to the Lost Canyon Ops Center. This is where you’ll get your equipment, meet your guides and receive safety guidelines and a demonstration.

The first waterfall you’ll get to while canyoning in the Lost Canyon is called the “Baby” (it’s only about 10ft or 3m high). This is the perfect way to get a taste of the adventure as you get more comfortable with rappelling.

As you continue with your adventure, you’ll reach another highlight with the “Big Boy” waterfall. This is the second biggest waterfall. By now, you’ll have your adrenaline pumping and you’ll be ready for the main event: a rappel down huge, 200-ft/60m waterfall!

After all of this excitement, you’ll probably be quite hungry. Luckily, your adventure includes a delicious Costa Rican meal at the Hunters and Gatherers Restaurant, located close to “El Salto” swimming hole. El Salto, by the way, is another fantastic (and free!) way to spend part of your day if you’re staying around La Fortuna. It’s a beautiful local swimming spot on La Fortuna River with a Tarzan rope – fun times for the entire family!
