The Pacuare River will blow your mind! It is considered to be among the best 10 whitewater rafting rivers in the world. With level III and IV rapids, it won’t be too intense to take in your amazingly lush and stunning rainforest surroundings. Don’t miss out on this adventure if you are visiting San José, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca or Turrialba.

Rafting is a must-do in the Arenal Volcano area as well! The Balsa River is perfect for beginners, with class II-III rapids. Of course, if you’d like to crank it up a notch, the Sarapiqui River is amazing, too. The scenery is gorgeous, and its class III-IV rapids will satisfy your adrenaline cravings.

While there are fewer options available from beach areas, the Savegre River is also a great one if you are staying around Manuel Antonio, Jacó or Dominical. There’s a little of everything here, with class II, III and IV rapids!
